My Review for "Skinny"

SkinnySkinny by Donna Cooner

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is my sister's book from school and I can not believe I have not read this book before, thank my readathon for pushing me to read it, is an amazing book. I can not even explain in words how much I loved this book, I am giving the book a 4.7 stars because at some points the book really got to me, that's how rough it is.

As how you read in the synopsis this book follows Ever struggling with her weight and the mental illness that brings her. What you have to be careful when you get into this book is to ready of how rough it is, that is why I love it so much because it explain almost exactly how the person with eating disorders struggle mentally. Ever starts at the weight of 302 pounds and tells us everything that is going on in her life, how people treat her before the weight loss and after , also the challenges that her mind creates. All the troubles in her mind are started by Skinny a voice in Ever's head that put her down even after she gets amazing results.

This book was on point with almost everything a person that has eating disorders deals with. It shows exactly that we are our worst enemy (this book really hit home, I developed ulcer from not eating for days , I did that back and forth for years, even now I struggle to eat even a little bit so my stomach wont hurt ... yes I sometimes unfortunately teach myself to forget about the pain and not eat). Had to put the book down many times because of how real it was and made me yell and cry for Ever and hate that voice that does not let us see how beautiful we are.

About the Book

Taran Wird holds the unique ability to conjure fire and lightning. She is mated to Gemini, Second in Command to the Squaw Valley Pack of the Lake Tahoe Region, and the sole werewolf to possess the ability to split into two wolves. And although they are mates, Taran's insecurities have driven them apart.
Devastated by an injury that left her with a zombie-like limb, Taran struggles to regain command over her magic. But when her arm and her power turn against her, lashing out on those she most loves, she knows she can no longer carry this burden alone. Not that she likes the alternative.
The only way to regain control of her magic is to align and learn from the local coven of witches―the very ones who sought to banish her when she and her three unique sisters first moved to the mystical region. But although Taran is trying, the teachings don't come easy, and the tasks leave her weak and emotionally shattered.
Yet Taran must learn and learn fast. Time is running out. The fire she once mastered so easily has become her greatest adversary and is now slowly burning her alive.

Excerpt #1

Son of a bitch.
I groan as I roll onto my back. I’d like to say this is the first time I’ve been knocked unconscious. I’d also like to say my boobs are the same size, but hey, such is my life.
Dirt. All I sense is that and dank heaviness that accompanies a . . . cave? Through the fog taking up residency along my brain, I make out a dim glow. It takes me a moment to realize it’s coming from my light-saber arm. I push up on my hands, grimacing when my fingers sink into the soil. Yet it’s what I see when I glance up that has me scrambling to my feet.
A lonely hand scuttles by me, chasing after a rat. Oh, but it gets better. I press my back against a dirt wall as a foot hops by, chasing after the hand, that’s chasing after the rat, with a decapitated head rolling —I shit you not—merrily behind them.
It’s like some kind of fucked up nursery rhyme. I don’t want to know the next verse, especially not with the collection of zombies gathering from all sides. These are different from the ones who pulled us onto shore. Their grisly faces are more emaciated and their bodies are in a more advance stage of decomposing. As they shuffle toward me, pieces of their skin fall in small moist clumps.
I hold out my hand. “Stay back.”
They collectively moan.
And move closer.
I grit my teeth, summoning that spark from deep in my core. The dank air seems to enclose around me, giving me a chill and snuffing out my inner heat.
Shit, shit, shit.
On wobbly legs, I slide my back against the dirt wall, my hands out. The zombies gather closer, cocking their heads, their empty sockets mesmerized by the glow of my arm. At first, I think they’re simply curious. But then their short thick tongues push forward, appearing to lick what’s left of their lips.
I jump when another hand scrambles by, its pinky brushing against my foot. My back presses against the dirt wall as I slide against it. I’m not sure where to go. I only know I can’t stay here.
I bang my fists against the wall, trying to stimulate my fire. My left hand doesn’t react, tensing uselessly. But that spark I so need triggers from my right arm, igniting flames along the path of my blue veins only to putter out.
Come on, light

Excerpt #2

I punch the wall harder, the effect causing another spark.
The zombies limp forward, closing in, reaching out.
I jerk from fear and pain when a root pokes me in the back. I can’t be too far from the surface. That doesn’t mean I can see a way out.
I punch at the wall, the small space I managed to put between me and the zombies quickly disappearing. Come on. Come on. Light.
A woman with no ears tugs at my hair.
Please, light.
A boy, no more than four grips my waist.
God damn it, light!
The long dark tunnel explodes in a wash of blue and white as my arm catches fire.
I gasp from its viciousness and its sudden arrival. “Okay, thanks,” I say, wishing I didn’t fear it as much as I do.
The zombies have stopped, appearing stunned as their absent stares focus on the light. I think that I’m in a good spot, and that at least for now, I’m safe and can find my family.
Until the little dead boy at my waist grabs my arm and detonates to ash.
My screams echo along the dirt tunnel, the sob that follows lodging in my chest when the zombies hurtle themselves forward and knock me down. Hands reach for me, batting at my skin. I think they’re trying to kill me. But it’s not until my arm blows them to bits that I realize they’re trying to re-die.
I push up on my legs, shoving the mounds of heavy ash away and take off running. I keep my arm out and away out of habit. Yet despite the intense heat, it’s not singeing me—not like before. But like moths to a flame, the zombies stagger forward.
They’re not fast, but neither am I. The stones poking through the ground make it hard to maneuver, and so does the narrowing tunnel. I’m sure I’m going the wrong way, and burying myself deeper, until I catch a small trace of sunlight in the distance.
The pitiful howls and the moans of the zombies overtake the small space. They’re close. All of them. But I don’t dare look back.

My Review for "Lady Midnight" book 1

Lady Midnight (The Dark Artifices, #1)Lady Midnight by Cassandra Clare

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

WARNING i liked the book but hate some things about it, that made me stop reading any book for few days. I will give an overall 2.9 stars because I did enjoy it (maybe I expected to much from it...If you want a real reaction to this book check it here and love the cover. Took me some time to put my thoughts about this book in order and express my felling as good as possible.

The plot for me it was up and down, at some points I felt that it will pick up then again going everywhere. This book is based on the life of Emma and the Blackthorn family (who I came very fond of them since the mortal instruments series), the way that they try to raise the kids in London. We have a new head warlock introduce that helps the family how he can, and one very important family member will be joining the family again.

What makes me happy is that now and then we have our lovely characters from all the series coming in every now and then helping with something, giving advice (one that ruined me and maybe hate the last two chapters ). Lots of questions that you have about shadowhunters will be answered in this book (and other questions will appear). Felt that this book is very predictable to me, like after few chapters in I already knew what will start happening before it was happening.

Ok For Everyone that HAS read this book you have to understand why do I feel like this about the book , because of how much drama will be for sure in the 2nd book and how Emma's choice will hurt the Blackthorn's family, not just that particular person ( everything will change, more danger will appear , you guys know from what character that is alive again, and the change in Julian ppl will hurt everyone around also...I hate drama, because in the end will happen what they tried to stop).

My Review for "Bloodlines" book 1

Bloodlines (Bloodlines, #1)Bloodlines by Richelle Mead

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Before I start this review I have to tell you that I was not a big fan of Adrian (I know do not kill me, but I never liked him in the Vampire Academy series). With that out of the way i can honestly tell you that I was very surprised to get into this series and in on the adventures that Sidney and Adrian will go on. However at some points I found that it was to many details about certain events that do not need more then few sentences.

When i started reading this book I was taken by surprised when Sidney seemed to be the main character and was pleased to have some some questions answers since the Last Sacrifice. things that I found out in this book literally had to put it down and take a walk to let all those secrets sink in. Also love the romance in this book even if the characters are pretending that is nothing going on even though they try to find any excuse to be around each other.

So right after i finished this book I could not wait to read the next book in the series.

My review for "Morganville Vampire" Omnibus 2

The Morganville Vampires, #4-6The Morganville Vampires, #4-6 by Rachel Caine

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is a volume that contain 3 books from the series from 4-6 : "Feast of Fools" , "Lord of Misrule" , "Carpe Corpus"...i have reread this book when i found it in a library.

'Feast Of Fools' in this book Claire and her friends find out that Amelie is not the oldest vampire, Bishop is her father, which had caned into Morganville to get revenge on his daughter for stealing his book. He takes Claire and her friends under his control, messing with their heads.Everyone realizes that Bishop can be very dangerous when Amelie and Olive work together to save Morganville (i didn't see that coming. However this series how we know from the previous books is about the love between Claire and Shane, which it get a lot more steamer(THEY Both STOP WHY). However in this book Claire is jealous because one of Bishop vampire pet Ysandre wants Shane and she shows that right in Claires face (Shane try to escape but the vampire b. uses her powers to overwhelm him and to obey her with no will).

This is an incredible book will keep you reading from the beginning to the end whiteout wanting to sleep. There are so many things happening that will not even thing about.

"Lord of Misrule" in this book Claire has to obey Bishop or everyone she cares about dies. Vampires start walking during daylight, some of them die, and they can't find an explanation for it. Now Claire doesn't know in who to trust because everyone is turning against her. *spoilers alert* When Claire follows Myrnin with Michael to go save Amelie well it turns out it was a trap by Myrnin for Bishop to get to Claire and capture Michael(all the vampires they were like robots).
To be honest i do not remember if is in this book or Cape Corpus but *spoilers* Bishop bites Claire.
So many ups and down it is amazing how plot is thought. Just love this book.

"Cape Corpus" is full of action, so many thing happening.Shane's father get what he hated the most in his life (vampires) with no choice but to work with them. *spoilers* Now something to make everyone happy Claire and Shane finally given in to their "needs" and love each other to the fullest (so happy, had to read few time couldn't believe it finally happen). The final battle between Amelie and Bishop it will be at the 'costume party' where Bishop had invited the hall town. Vampires came in each with a human pet. Well at least we find out who is on what side. Even Claire parents were invited so she can be a "good girl" for Bishop.

This volume is just amazing is so full of surprises, action and less love the only parts is just once with Shane and Claire.

My Review for "Dreamless" Book 2

Dreamless (Starcrossed, #2)Dreamless by Josephine Angelini

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

How can I explain that this is one of my favorite series but I give to the second book only a 3.9 stars because of a single character. That is why I have read the last 3 chapters in the Goddess to see if this cruel, evil, heartless character ( probably the first ever character that made me hate it so much). However I am so happy that after almost two years I did finally got around to read this book because I finally could understand so many things.

In this book the Helen holds a very important role that could change the life of all the scions even if it could bring the end of hers. Also in this book Orion is introduce for the first time when Helen is in much need of help when she is in the underworld, where they did not have any powers and she really had no idea how to fight. After so many visits down there with no results certain characters will do the impossible to help despite what danger will that put them into.

The writer introduces so many new character that will play a very important role in Helen and Lucas life in one way or another taking us on an adventure that will make you believe that you are experiencing the events with all the characters. Honestly I felt at some points that I could fell and touch the blood or whatever was in the underworld.

My Review for "Opposition" Book 5

Opposition (Lux, #5)Opposition by Jennifer L. Armentrout

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

No...No....Noooo .... I don't want to do a review....

OK It has been two weeks since I finished this series and I have reread some of the books more then once since then. I knew the moment I will start writing this review that will mean that the series is done and I have to accept it...but I honestly do not want to accept the fact that I will not "see" my friends luxen, hybrids and origin anymore.

How you can see I give the book a 5 stars because it truly deserves it no matter how my heart feels now after so many deaths , and pain that all the character are put through. In my opinion this is the book were Katy shows her true self and lets out or that she built about all this time about everything that has happen. Dee will again for a while lost and maybe do things that she will definitely regret latter but her heart is in pieces. Also we will see Daemon was fromKaty and not in control of his actions for the first time (even though he will always find a way out and will do everything in his power to keep Katy safe).

Like in the fourth book Luke and Archer play a very important role in this book, especially when they are the only ones left to take care of Beth and her.....(well that you have to read to know who). Lots of masks will be "uncovered" and all the secrets will come out to light.

I think Jennifer L. Armentrout wrote the perfect book to put an unfortunate for us ending t0 this beautiful and amazing series.

My Review for "Origin" Book 4

Origin (Lux, #4)Origin by Jennifer L. Armentrout

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Yes finally my heart can take a small break , thank you Jennifer L. Armentrout for this amazing book and series. I have been in a roller coaster that I do not want to get out ever, because this particular series reminded me why I started to love reading so much ( it has been few years since I have read a series that made me feel so good and marathon through it). Therefore I find myself that when I finish one book I have to pick up right away the next one ( have been barely any sleep for me these days but I do not complain).

However the book starts very sad with Katy in DOD's hands and Daemon getting himself cut to be with her and see how to get her out and see if Luke will actually help. Daemon tells Kat what Luke needs them to get for him so he can get them out, and after that they start asking each other if Archer could be the one Luke has spoken about to maybe help them. Also in here they find out that Luke and Archer they are maybe more powerful then both of them because they are Origin , born from a .... born from a luxen and a hybrid and that is why the DOD wanted both of them because they were trying to make an army out of Origin babies and control them out in the world. The events in this book they are full of adventure taking you on amazing journey even though sometimes sad one (no matter hoe mean i sound i am truly happy that one character has got what it deserves even though Kat feels guilty for his death).

Finally we will get the old Dee back and maybe she is ready to start dating again with a new very hansom character that plays a very important role in this book. Also I was unfortunately right about the character that betray Dawson & Beth, and right now Daemon & Katy.

Right now I have just started reading the last book and have to tell you this series it has to be read by everyone is just amazing, I can not even find the words how good it is.

My Review for "Opal" Book 3

Opal (Lux, #3)Opal by Jennifer L. Armentrout

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Let me swear first like Katy so goodreads wont block my review just with a freaking whole different meaning "holy monkey balls" this book had me on the edge like crazy. Giving this book a 4.6 stars because my heart is in to much pain yo be able to give more.

In this book few characters will return some will be cut and some you will start hatting them (even though your heart is trying to tell you that is a lie or just your imagination because that character can not be the one that told on Dawson and Beth). We will have more adventure and romance from Kat and Daemon that will worm your heart , even at the time that Kat is the one to make Dawson start acting normal and go back to school. Can this couple endure more pain then they already have, when is their time to be happy something happens to kill any hopes for any future.

Dee is shown less because she is still "coping" with the dead of Adam, by hanging out all the time with Ash and Andrew (which if you ask me is more wired then anything else in this book). I start learning more about Ash and when I think I see a glimpse of her "soft" side, then I realize is only because Dee has became worse(yes is possible to be more bitchy then Ash).

I just have to dive in the next book right now to know what I will do with that f****** character , go in to torture him (yes its a him) or stab him and let him to bled slowly. I can not stress enough how good it is this book, and series If you have not read it yet you have to start now.

My Review for "Onyx" Book 2

Onyx (Lux, #2)Onyx by Jennifer L. Armentrout

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is one of my favorite series , probably the second favorite series and the one that I marathon through it. The only reason that I do not give a 5 stars is because a curtain character that made me want to love it but hate it up to the point to get in the book and slap the sense back to it. I had to reread this book before deciding how to formulate the words to place it down in words.

In this book Katie is starting to get on my nerves with all her "PMS" emotions and trusting the wrong people against whatever her instinct told her .
(And because of that i asked Daemon to marry me and he said yes, so something good come out of it right :)))
Kattie "wakes" up after something that will change everything in her life that she finally understand how wrong her decisions have been and not trusting the right people that truly care about her. However in the same time Daemon breaks my heart after finally putting himself out there and in return he is stepped on. Also Dee and Adam will have a very important role in this book that will change the course of the series and will play with our emotions.

I know i always says you must read this book, but trust me if you loved the 5th wave you have to read this series and you will see how right i am. The only thing will happen probably you will hate me because you will get so hooked in the adventure.

My Review "Eragon"

Eragon (The Inheritance Cycle, #1)Eragon by Christopher Paolini

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Can not believe how much i did like this this book, but how much more I like the movie more during certain evens and how some of them are being played out. That is why i only give a 3.7 stars even though it actually bothers me it does not deserve more then that.

Probably everyone has seen the movie Eragon by now, and i have to tell you that is a must to read this book to answer some of the questions and make you understand more about the elf's and dwarfs. Love how the journey of Eragon is laid in the book from the moment he finds the egg till the moment he realizes how important he is for so many people. The events that are laid in the book will take you on an amazing journey that at some moments will fill you with so much happiness but at the same time will break your heart into so many little pieces.

Despite of how much I did enjoy reading the book I had at so many moments the feel to ripe some pages out and write them myself how the movie has been or the way that I have seen in my head (especially the ending). However it was an enjoyable reading and pretty fast reading that kept me up at night.

My Review for "Obsidian" Book 1

Obsidian (Lux, #1)Obsidian by Jennifer L. Armentrout

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is the second series (book) i have read through it without any sleep and pick up the next one right after i finish this particular one. I am not a big fan of alien books (but this book i just love) but this particular book is just amazing, very well written and with a plot that builds up with every chapter.

OH Before you read this review please understand that no 'Bad' though is aloud toward my HUSBAND Daemon, we got married when Katie kept pushing him away. :)))

The whole plot runs around Kate and Daemon which one is a human and one a Luxen (or better known as an alien ) that have to manage their life around each other even if they are 'forbidden' to be happy. Luxen are the light ones and Aerum are the shadow aliens that have been at war for thousand of years which will change Kate and Daemon's life forever. Even though at the beginning everything looks to be against them but after is no more secrets between them both their life's will be alternated by one of the smallest (but very important for Luxen) act Deamon will do for Kate.

Take my word for it, if you love alien books or even The 5th Wave you will truly enjoy every page, chapter and minute of it. For about 16 hours non stop I lived and breath this book and literally not putting it down for more then few minutes.
